Black Scholars Endowed Scholarship - At George Mason University, the Black Scholars Endowed Scholarship is presented for $1,500 annually to undergraduate students from underrepresented ethnic minorities who have completed at least one course in their African American Studies major or minor. Ppplicants must carry a minimum overall GPA of 3.0, have taken at least 12 credits at GMU, show a commitment to diversity, and be active members of a campus organization. First preference will be given to African or African American students.

Frederick Douglass Institute Predoctoral Fellowship - Within the Frederick Douglass Institute (FDI), there’s an annual Predoctoral Fellowship that offers $26,000 annually to outstanding graduate students who are pursuing their Ph.D. in the field of African or African American Studies. To apply, candidates must have completed all required courses, qualifying exams, and at least one dissertation chapter. Applications won’t be complete without an official transcript, curriculum vitae, research proposal, and three letters of academic recommendation.

Ray Charles Endowed Scholarship - Also offered by the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) in honor of the Grammy award-winning musician, the Ray Charles Endowed Scholarship is given annually for up to $4,500 to black college students who are enrolled full-time in their junior year of an acceptable major, including African American Studies. Qualified candidates must attend a UNCF-affiliated historically black institution, have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0, and demonstrate unmet financial need. Awards are renewable for up to one year.

Whitney Ransome Scholarship Award - Offering $1,250 per semester based on merit, the Whitney Ransome Scholarship Award is presented by the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG) to full-time undergraduate students who are currently enrolled with a major in African American and African Diaspora Studies. Qualified candidates must show academic promise, submit a faculty letter of recommendation, have completed at least nine hours of African American Studies credits, demonstrate significant financial need, and write a 250-word career aspirations essay.

Wm Wrigley Foundation Scholarship - Amount: Up to $5,000 - Scholarship is open to undergraduate students who are enrolled in a UNCF member school during the 2018-2019 academic year. Candidates for this scholarship should be majoring in engineering (chemical, mechanical, electrical, industrial), business, finance, accounting, chemistry, economics, computer science, or marketing.

BNSF Railway Foundation Scholarship - Amount: Up to $2,250 - Scholarship is open to high-achieving students from Tarrant County, Texas who are full-time enrolled degree seeking candidates at a UNCF-member institution OR at any other fully accredited U.S. located college or university during the 2018-2019 academic year. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA and have demonstrated unmet need.

Catherine W. Pierce Scholarship - Amount: Up to $4,500 - Scholarship is open to current college students who are pursing a degree in an Art, Art History and other eligible majors.

June & Wylie Seldon Memorial Endowment - Scholarship is open to current undergraduate students who are enrolled at an UNCF member institution. Applicant must have at least a 2.5 GPA and have demonstrated financial need. Applicant must provide a one-page personal statement on their career interest, current academic transcript, and a letter of recommendation.

Minneapolis MLK Legacy Scholarship Program - Amount: Up to $4,812 - Scholarship is open to African American and Hispanic students who are permanent residents of the city of Minneapolis. Applicant must be an entering freshman who, in priority order, has been accepted and who is planning to enroll full-time at any UNCF member institution, other Historically Black College or University or an accredited four-year institution.

AfterCollege STEM Inclusion Scholarship - Amount: $500 - Scholarship is open to currently enrolled students working towards a degree in a field of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics and who are from a group underrepresented in their field of study.

Estelle Martin Cartledge Memorial Fund Scholarship - Amount: Up to $1,300 - Scholarship is open to high school graduates who have a strong academic record and are accepted or currently enrolled in a four-year institution of higher education. Applicant must have a sustained (one year or more) involvement in humanitarian service projects. Applicant must live in the Mon Valley, Pennsylvania (Rankin, Turtle Creek, Braddock, North Braddock, Homestead, Duquesne, Monongahela, and West Mifflin). Preference will be given to students who are African-American and attend Morning Star Baptist Church.

POISE General Scholarships - Amount: Up to $1,500 - Scholarship is open to residents in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania who are accepted or currently attending a two-year or four-year university, post secondary technical or trade school.

Robert B. Pease Scholarship Fund - Amount: $1,000 - Scholarship is open to students who reside in Allegheny County (Pennsylvania) and attend a two-year or four-year university. Preference is given to African-American students and those studying in the field of Engineering.

Vertus Hardiman Endowed Scholarship - Amount: Up to $5,000 - Scholarship is open to students enrolled at a HBCU during the 2018-2019 academic year with at least a 3.0 GPA.

Apple HBCU Scholars Program - Amount: Up to $25,000 - Scholarship is open to students enrolled full-time at a four-year accredited HBCU or PBI (Predominately Black Institution) who will be graduating between December 2019 and May 2021. The highly competitive program targets STEM students, but opportunities exist for students of all disciplines.

American Honda Foundation Scholarship - Amount: Up to $2,750 - Scholarship is open to minority male students who are classified as undergraduate students at any accredited four-year college or university within the United States and enrolled in one of the STEM fields. Applicant must be a permanent resident of a targeted area of Los Angeles (Carson, Compton, Harbor City, Long Beach, Lynwood, Watts, Willowbrook, or Wilmington).

Richard L. Sykes Memorial Scholarship - Amount: Up to $5,000 - Scholarship is open to college freshmen who reside in or are a permanent resident of the greater Los Angeles area and live in one of the following zip codes: 90000-93888. Student must be an African-American college freshman and preference will be given to students attending HBCUs-particulary UNCF member institutions.

Pennsylvania State Employees Combined Campaign Scholarship - Amount: Up to $4,000 - Scholarship is open to residents of Pennsylvania who are enrolled full-time at a UNCF member college or university. Applicant must complete the FAFSA, be Pell Grant eligible, and have a minimum GPA of 2.5.

API Study Abroad and Intern Abroad Scholarships - Scholarships are open to API program participants. There are multiple scholarships with specific requirements – see website for details. In addition to general scholarships, there are scholarships specifically open to community college students, military veterans, non-traditional students, students with disabilities, minority students, LGBTQ students, STEM majors, and student athletes.

Harold & Carolyn Robison Foundation Scholarship - Amount: Up to $2,000 - Scholarship is open to current undergraduate students with at least a 2.5 GPA and reside or are permanent residents of Detroit, Michigan. Applicant must have demonstrated unmet financial need.

Actuarial | Minority Scholarship - Amount: $5,000 - Scholarship is open to undergraduate students who are pursuing an actuarial or mathematics-related degree, with the goal of pursuing an actuarial career. Applicant must be a member of one of the following minority groups: African-American, Hispanic, Native American, Asian or Pacific Islander, Alaskan Eskimo or other. If selected, student must successfully complete a summer internship at Mutual of Omaha’s home office (paid housing, competitive hourly rate of pay, financial incentives, etc.)

Joseph A. Towles African Study Abroad Scholarship - Amount: Up to $10,000 - Description: Scholarship is open to African-American students who will be studying abroad in the 2018-19 academic year within the continent of Africa.

Ron Brown Scholar Program - Amount: $10,000 - Scholars program is open to African-American/Black high school seniors who excel academically and demonstrate a keen interest in public service, community engagement, business entrepreneurship and global citizenship. This is the early applicant deadline.

Ossie Davis Legacy Award Scholarship - Scholarship is open to African-American college freshman who are attending a four-year Historically Black College or University (HBCU) beginning fall 2018. Applicant must demonstrate the ability and desire to use artistic activism to proactively address the concerns of humanity. In addition to having at least a 3.0 GPA, applicant must be majoring in African-American Studies, Communications, Education, Fine Arts, Humanities, Performing Arts, Political Science, Social Sciences, Theater Arts/Drama or Visual Arts.

LAF Scholarships - Scholarships are open to students studying landscape architecture. Multiple scholarships available. In addition to general scholarships, there are scholarships open to minority students and students from Hawaii and New York.

UNCF General Scholarship - Scholarship is open to students enrolled full-time at one of the 37 UNCF member institutions during the 2018-19 academic year. Applicant must have a demonstrated financial need as verified by the financial aid office and have a minimum GPA of 2.5.


TMCF | Lowe’s Scholarship - Amount: Up to $7,500 - Description: Scholarship is open to college sophomores, juniors and seniors who are enrolled full-time in an accredited TMCF member-school. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA and a demonstrated combination of financial need and merit. Applicant must be at risk of not returning to school or graduating due to an outstanding financial need.
