MOOCs are courses delivered online and accessible to all for free. MOOC stands for massive open online course: Massive because enrollments are unlimited and can run into hundreds of thousands. Two reasons MOOCs are growing in demand are that anyone can learn a certain discipline for free. The other is that after learning a certain discipline or course they can get certified by the institution. A certificate is a high commodity on a resume.
