Q: Is my son required to have a hearing and vision screening?

A: Yes. Texas Department of State Health Services Vision and Hearing Screening Program, Chapter 36 of the Health and Safety Code requires that all children enrolled for the first time in any public, private, parochial or denominational school or in a Department of Family and Protective Services licensed child care center and child care home in Texas must be screened or have a professional examination for possible vision and hearing problems.

Q: If my son is not immunized due to religious beliefs, can he still enroll in camp and/or school?

Yes. Your son is eligible to attend our summer camp and/or school year. If your son does not have the required immunizations for the state of Texas because of religious or other beliefs, he must have a conscientious exemption form. The conscientious exemption form must be obtained from the Department of State Health Services in Austin, Texas. This affidavit can only be obtained in Texas.

If your son does not meet the immunization requirements for medical reasons, he will need a medical exemption statement. The medical exemption statement must be signed by your son’s physician. The State of Texas requires that the original form/statement is on file with the school.

For more information, refer to the Texas State Exemption Page.

Q: If I am only applying for summer camp, do I have to complete the school evaluations?

A: No school information is required for summer camp or ESL summer camp. However, if you are undecided whether or not you wish to pursue academic enrollment at MMA it is recommended that you request the school forms MMA requires before your son’s current school’s summer break.

Q: What if the school sent in the evaluations prior to me sending the Application for Admission?

A: No worries. Any documentation received without the corresponding Application for Admission from a parent will be kept on file until receipt of the application.

Q: Can a student enroll any time?

A: MMA accepts new students at the beginning of the fall (August) and spring (January) semesters. Applications are received and reviewed throughout the year. There is no set deadline — just understand that we recommend you submit your son’s application for admission before a scheduled registration date. Sooner is always better than later! Once an applicant is accepted for academic enrollment, an acceptance packet will be mailed. A student must report on the assigned registration day outlined within the acceptance cover letter.

Q: What are the admission requirements?

A: To determine if a young man is a candidate for admission, we evaluate transcripts, teacher evaluations, standardized test score results, medical history and of course, the application. We are looking for a young man who has the potential to be successful at MMA. We do not have a minimum grade point average for admission. Many boys who had poor grades in the past develop better study habits and improve their GPA when placed in a more structured setting.

Q: What is the annual tuition for a new student for an academic year?

A: The cost for a new student can be found on the tuition and fees page. Tuition must be re-evaluated each academic year in an effort to maintain the high standards we demand for the cadets with constant vigilance to provide an affordable quality education.

Q: Are loans available?

A: Loan programs make tuition payments more affordable by providing up-front funds to the Academy but let families spread the payments over a longer period of time than our tuition payment plans allow. If you are interested in any of the providers listed here, please contact them directly for current fees, rates and other details. Most, if not all, are credit-based loans and may have different standards of creditworthiness.
